Knew Tone for about 25 years as a good friend. Many times over the years he visited me, and never quite mastered the art of parallel parking, and kerbed one of his tyres on three separate occasions resulting in a flat tyre. Lots of cussing would then follow, followed by calls to the AA to come and sort it out. He wouldn’t admit that he just couldn’t parallel park, and always blamed the narrow road and high kerbs lol.....
He loved his food, must have been the Cheffy side of him, and always took great pleasure in posting photos of his latest dish on Facebook.
Besides Bristol Rovers, Shannon his GSD dog had been his greatest love, and he always missed her terribly after she died. He sadly lost Sissy Cat too, at a very ripe age.
He hated flying, and would always drive to South of France to see our friends, rather than catch a plane.
I remember a time where we all went camping once, and he had a pop up tent, that was very flimsy. In the middle of the night, it must have been blowy, he decided to sleep in the back of his estate car instead. Trouble was he had parked over the manhole, where we needed to empty the Camper toilet, and it was full. We were all rushing around that morning trying to find somewhere else to go, rather than wake him up, where he was still snoring oblivious, in the back of his estate. This happened in the days before he got his caravan, and progressed to what he called his “pikey set up”
Tone would always go to Dr Feelgood gigs. He told me once that he had seen them 57 times lol……Fishing was another great passion, where he would just take himself off, and sit by a pond quietly by himself.
During COVID, used to pop over and see him, think he found it hard, and we’d sit out the front of his flat with a cup of tea, socially distanced.
The kettle was always on.
Tone, you were a kind gentleman, a good friend with a lovely soul, and you will be missed. This is for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4IjrjMbmC4
